Khendall Beale, founder of Poundcake Proverbs, is a native of Washington, DC and graduate of Lincoln University. Beale is young, in-the-know and enthusiastic; her ideas are forward-thinking and progressive. She is passionate about leading conversations on current trends and social issues from the young millennial perspective, which has led to her contributions to multiple blog collectives around the subject. A connector at heart, Beale belongs to numerous networking groups and enjoys connecting people with shared passions.
Monica McNeil, Contributor for Poundcake Proverbs, is a middle school urban educator from Bronx, New York who strongly believes in bettering and giving back to her community. Through her career, she promotes the need for young scholars belonging to minority groups to attend Historically Black College Universities and to believe that anything can be achieved through hard work and determination. Monica takes pride in being a single parent, mentor and professional. She believes her purpose in life is to inspire, encourage and lead.
Shertona ‘Mahogany’ Hankins, Contributor for Poundcake Proverbs, was born to write. She hails from the sandy shores of Long Island, by way of the concrete jungle, you call the Big apple. A Bachelors of Science in Human Service and focus in Black Studies, has helped to cultivate this neo soul, simile spittin’, nubian Queen into a community activist, poet, and self proclaimed -Fuck being politically correct- blogger. With a desire to serve the greater need of her community, Mahogany believes that words whether verbal or jotted in a notebook indirectly becomes our direct reality. During her spare time, she enjoys reading self help books, battle rap, and spoken word cafes, with the occasional glass of incredible hulk. We’ll just say its a NY thing! LOL. On any given Saturday night, you may catch her on a dance floor two stepping or traveling on route i95 South to visit her friends. It’s her belief that you can’t ‘sip your tea’ without a slice of this poundcake, so get with the wave.
Junita Middleton, Contributor for Poundcake Proverbs, hails from Brooklyn, New York. She is known for her contagious laugh and warm personality. Junita graduated from Lincoln University and gracefully obtained her B.S. in Health Science. She had intentions of becoming a Physical Therapist, but over the years returned to her true passion- writing and creating. Among many of her desires, at the top of the list, Junita aspires to be a Television Writer and Director. She’s gradually making her dreams a reality. Junita is currently writing and directing a documentary about her late great- grandmother which will air Summer 2016.

Melissa Moore, Contributor for Poundcake Proverbs, is a graduate from the University of Maryland, College Park with a B.A. in Journalism and Sociology. Born and raised in Maryland, she is currently cultivating a career as a business analyst with hopes to make it back to her communication roots. She is in a constant state of wanderlust and has gone through a few quarter-life crises. Inquisitive at her core, Melissa is always keeping up with current social issues and trending topics to support her often passionate views. When she isn’t spending her time in rush hour traffic, she is fostering a creative space outside of her rigid corporate life, enjoying time with her friends and loved ones, maintaining a love/hate relationship with the dating scene and contemplating her life purpose.
