Chip ‘N’ Dales

By: Gena

Plenty of Fish, POF,  is full of interesting men. One can meet anyone from lawyers, doctors, poets, music artists, athletes, neighborhood mediceuticals ( drug dealers) depending on the day. You cast your hook in a never ending stream of horny, manipulative, and not to mention—fine men at times, hoping you’ll be the reason that he deletes his account. If he doesn’t, there’s plenty more, hence the name.

She was a frequent off and on subscriber to POF with a system. It was simple. Get on every 4 months, with new profile pictures, chat with 6-7 men, rally one for a date, give another your number ( just in case the date goes terrible) and hide your profile, until they both dip, you get bored and then–  back on the hunt you go. There’s always a curve ball. You’ll occasionally get what you may assume is a classic case of catfish, but who ends up being the one to fulfill the fantasies of your wildest dreams.

Ashes to Ashes

By: Toni

The girls sat around discussing what the majority of faithful women in a relationship are disturbed by most… sidechicks. Almost everyone shared the story about the times their cheating men caused them to lose their minds,  ready to kill a bitch. However, each woman digressed at the reality that they would face jail time, meaning that by default  the sidechick would win.

She sat there quietly taking everything in. Out of the circle, she was the only one single. She never had a boyfriend. Luckily, she never had to endure the pain and embarrassment that many woman wore as a badge of honor.  Quite frankly, she was thankful, however, the craving to have any sort of relationship was real! After being the supportive friend,  witnessing the anger, hurt, and despair on her friend’s faces after mutliple infidelities,  she made a vow to never be a sidechick. Suddenly, a trip to the doctors office may have caused her ideals to change.

Backseat Baby

By: Mackenzie

I’m not sure how Tina ended up in that backseat. She was smart, pretty face, had a great job, and had so much going for her. Any man would be lucky to have her. Maybe too lucky. Tina had trouble in the dating department, because she was always viewed as a threat by most of the men that she dated. She usually made more money than them, had more career goals than them, and just had her stuff together when they didn’t. She really was the perfect catch, but too many guys that came her way had no idea what to do with a gem like Tina.

She met this guy on Match.com. Mid-thirties, no kids, and a great job. Although Tina was only 23, she took comfort in dating older men as she could relate to them better… or so she thought.

One Night Only –La Fin–

By: Gena

11:13am, an incoming text message from him.“I have a show tonight and would love to treat you and your friends. I promise you’ll never forget it.”

12:00pm,  an outgoing text message from her.“I’d love too. Let me check with my friends to see if they have plans.

12:00:45pm, an outgoing text message from her. “Biiiiitccccchhhh, he has a show! He wants us to come!

12:32pm, an incoming text message from the group chat. “Omg. Omg. Where is the show ? What time?”

12:34pm, an outgoing text message from her. “7pm, and like a 20 min drive”.

Long story short, the girls had other plans. She texted another friend who was down to ride. He told her that there would be two tickets waiting at will call for her. She was so excited that she could barely breathe. “Too much good shit happening in one day” she thought to herself. “ Am I gonna die?”

“YOU GOT ME FUCKED UP!!!!!!!!” -11:23PM

“WHAT YOU MEAN, DON’T TRY TO PLAY ME?” -12:07AM

“I DON’T PLAY WITH PEOPLE’S KIDS, YOUR MOTHER INCLUDED!” -12:09AM

Dots of anticipation lingers at the bottom of my screen.  ……….. 1:18AM

My thoughts grew more vivid as I imagined driving an hour and 20 minutes to his headquarters and raising havoc. Fed up was an understatement.

Oh, PAUSE….

Senioritis Sleaze

By a Poundcake Proverbs Supporter

The countdown has officially began. Graduation was 9 days away and the class of 2011 could smell the victory, taste the completion and began to fantasize over their future success. Final papers and projects were being handed in, caps and gowns hung up and that familiar feeling of a good turn-up was stirring.

With senior week approaching, the liquor store had been raided, the campus weed men had re-upped and the slackness of senior week began to settle in. I for one had prided myself on many things throughout my last 4 years at an HBCU. Especially the fact that I could count how many dudes I’ve been intimate with on one hand and still have fingers left. It wasn’t even about being stuck up or morals, to be honest.

Walk of Shame

By: Toni

It was the second semester of her freshmen year and she had been patiently waiting for the time to come. All winter break she was prepping for her night alone with her senior boo. It was his last semester and she planned to leave a stamp on his dick that he wouldn’t forget even after he became an alum.

She first noticed him during Transition Week. He was a student leader and she envied every freshman that was in his group. She thought of ways to switch groups just to be closer to him, but decided to chill and wait for her moment. Her moment happened during Homecoming Week at the Two Dolla’ Holla. If you were to google “liquor courage”, the Urban Dictionary will have her mug shot pop up across your screen. Most of her friends were avid drinkers before college, but her first drink was a few weeks prior for her roommate’s 18th birthday. Tonight was the night that caused her to know what the word “hangover” means.

A Gmail Relationship ( The Saga Continues)

By: Bleu Grae´

“Sunday was a beautiful day for us. We laughed, joked, and enjoyed one another’s company… just overall awesome. Today however, was horrible. What you did could have been worse and you really didn’t have to tell me the truth but I really did not expect this from you. I mean, I don’t put anything pass anyone because we are all capable of lying but I didn’t think you would lie about something so small. I could see if it were something severe that would justify a lie. It made me upset because its not like we do not have open communication between one another. You could have told the truth. I am very open with you and tell you things that are very hard for me to say or talk about with any one else. This caught me off guard. Like although it’s early on between us, you have jeopardized the trust. Now, I have to go to bed wondering what your true feelings are and if you’re over your ex. It’s like the tables have turned. And yes I forgive you but it’s these little things that stand out to me because they lead to much bigger things. I don’t know if you understand. As I said time and time again, I like you a lot but this has slowed things very much. Like, I don’t know what to say or do. Imma just take it day by day because that’s all we could do. Last night, what I wanted to say is that you give me the feeling of love like u make me want to say it although its not how I feel. It’s just one of those in the moment kind of things where I’m just filled with so much happiness and joy … and I felt that with you Sunday. So many laughs and smiles… it was more beautiful than today. I got to sleep in your arms and wake up with u beside me; which was a great feeling. I didn’t think I would appreciate it as much as I do now. It’s just the lie overcame me…us.”

Love to Get Down (Teaser Continued )

By: Zuri Lovelace

They ended up on the lowest level of the club.   Arguably, but obviously, assisted by the liquor, she was pinned up against a body, vibing to the sounds of Top 40 and hip hop, with some old school gems thrown in. She was in her element!

Now, she and her best friend Ciara dodged their fair share of men throughout the night; some old, some with no rhythm, some lame and some just plain unattractive. But finally, she found someone she didn’t immediately want to dance away from. She couldn’t even see him at first, because he came towards her from behind but she could just tell by the way he touched her that this… was….different. When she did get a glimpse of him, she saw a tall, caramel-complected man. Lankier than she expected but his face was chiseled and he was actually dressed like he wanted to make an impression.   She would never expect a guy like him to even look her way, let alone approach her to dance. They moved in-sync through so many songs she lost count. With every song she began to get comfortable exploring his body with her hands. She let his face caress her neck. With the lights changing and the music booming, she never danced that way with anyone. Not even in the deepest corners of her fantasies.

Then, the lights started coming on. You know, the “get your bags and your coats and get out of here” lights. Thankfully, the DJ had mercy on the crowd and let the lights dim one last time. This was her chance. She wanted to make sure she left an impression on him, he would be sure to ask for her number! Before she knew it, he had turned

One Night Only (Part Deux)

By: Gena

“I gotta have you,” he said. She blushed. “I don’t know what to say..” “Don’t say anything, just let me savor and enjoy this moment.”

She pulled away from his tight hold. “Who are you ?, ” she asked. “Like, I don’t even know your name.” He grabbed her arm and slowly rubbed his thumb over her elbow, leaned in close to whisper, “Dorian.” “Well Dorian, what do you do?” she asked. He laughs. “You really wanna know ?” She got nervous. Please don’t say rapper, she thought to herself.

“I mean by the way you’re talkin’, it seems like you’re into the arts or something,” she said.  “Mmmh, is that right?” he asked. She smiled and blurted out, ” Listen , is it top secret or something ? Just tell me! ”

“I’m a stripper” he answered. She froze. In the back of her mind, she thought to herself, Oh hellllll no, not another stripper! Don’t need one of those, again.
